Bargain hunting for taps & bowls

Mr 黑 - Went around a lot of hardware shops, from Sim Siang Choon to the smaller shops in Balestier and Hougang. Decided on buying from Hoe Kee cause they had a ‘fountain’ tap that we both liked. Went to the main office in Genting Lane. Got a 10% discount from the salesperson as compared to 5% if we bought from their retail shops. Bought an Ariston heater, ktichen sink and tap with commercial look, one glass bowl cum vanity top with fountain-style tap for outside toilet.Went to Poh Joo at Jalan Besar to buy a bowl and tap for MBR toilet. Also got 2 toilet-roll hooks there.

Mrs 黑 – If the contractor didn’t insist that we bought the taps/ sinks/ heater by this weekend, I think my tortoise Hubby will continue to wait wait wait … I am so proud to say that all the taps and sinks (except for Kitchen’s one, but I love it as well!) were chosen by me !! Presenting to you my selections:

Tip of the Day:
Try to buy everything from one shop. They will offer you a cheaper price and better discounts.

BUT, don't force yourself to buy all the items if you can't find what you want !! Remember you gona face it everyday! Must buy something you really love! At the right price of course!

Teka Warehouse Sale 09

I forced hubby to wake up early to go to the Teka Warehouse Sale since it was so near his place. When we got there, got a very pleasant surprise. There were display sets that were going for less than half price. Even brand new items were at 25% off. We went back, got hubby's mum to come along and advise us. Decided to buy a chimney glass hood for $2XX, a hob for $2XX, and a fantastic ‘glass look’ oven at $8XX that both of us love. We defintely didn't expect our house to have Teka appliances since we are on a strict budget.

Tip of the day:
1) Once your contractor starts to nag at you to buy stuff for the home, start waking up early on Saturdays to read The Straits Times.

2) Check for the opening time of the warehouse sales (Be selective! A lot of these sales are bogus. They are either those places that are permanently on sales all year round, all those that did not really have anything decent to offer) make sure you reach there early!

3) Early birds = can buy display sets at more than 50% discount!

Check out what we bought!!

Normal Price: $1100+, we bought at $8XX
(Display set was sold, so we bought a new set!)
Oven

Normal Price: $500+, we bought at $2XX
(Display set, but NEW! Still wrapped up!)
Hood

Normal Price: $500+, we bought at $2XX
(Display set, some minor scratches. Not obvious)
Hob
Thanks to hubby's mum, the expert of Kitchen stuffs. We have gotten the above gifts sponsored by her !

Selection of Tiles

Mr 黑 - Soh brought some samples to my place, wifey and I used the elimination process to choose. Anything that required extra cost was eliminated early. Finally chose the one was had the glossiest finish. Always liked a smooth floor that I could slide across!

Mrs 黑 – We wanted the white glossiest tile initially but extra cost was required. Finally settle on the simpliest and glossiest finish. Why glossiest? So that my dear doggies can slide with my hubby together!! Haha
